The SOS - Children´s Village Makalle is situated 4 km out of Makalle, the capital of the oldest populated province of Ethiopia, directly by the wayside of one of the caravan tracks which lead to the salt desert. The climate is pleasant but very dry.

The SOS - Children´s Village Makalle includes 20 two-family houses, one-family houses in which 182 children are living with their SOS-Children's Village mothers, one building for the village manager, one community center, a sewing center, a ward, a basic school and a nursery school.

For this project ELCON planned and installed all the electrical and communications systems.
